Long Time Gone

Sorry, I've been neglecting my blog for almost a week! I left on Thursday for my sister's wedding, so that's why. I promise to be more on top of things from now on.

Onto some pinks... :)

Pink Champagne (Guava & Red Apple)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
Lovin' this idea for a Tropical Sno. And I think the flavor combination goes along with the name quite well.

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Decent smell. We've got the weird guava-ness going on again. I want to eat a real guava... I wonder if they're good.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Not too bad. I dig it.

Would I order this flavor again?
It probably wouldn't be my first pick.

Overall Rating: 4 Stars

Nahhh...

Four.

PiƱa Colada

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: **** (5 Stars)
It smells all coconut-y... which I love.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
It's pretty good. Not totally and completely awesome, but not bad.

Would I order this flavor again?
Nope - just not a single-flavor type of gal.

Overall Rating: 4 Stars

Pineango (Mango & Pineapple)

Name: **** (4 Stars)
It's pretty clever, but it's kind of taking the whole name smooshing thing a little far, don't ya think?

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
Solid color.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Pineapple and mango are both pretty good scents... I'll give 'er a decent rating.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Not a huge mango person. ...thankfully. It would probably be kind of hard to get around the house if I was a huge mango. (Get it?)

Would I order this flavor again?
Nope.

Pineapple

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
I'm running out of things to say for the average, 3-4 star ratings... It's good. Not great. Nothing spectacular. Ya di ya da...

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Very pineapple-y. It's a good flavor to mix other flavors with.

Would I order this flavor again?
Not alone. But add it to any other to make a daiquiri!

Overall Rating: 3 2/3 Stars

Pineapple-Orange

Name: ** (2 Stars)
This name sucks. It's worse than Kiwi-Banana. Kiwi-Banana at least is like... a typical name for lotion and stuff, but Pineapple-Orange? Too random and unoriginal.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Despite the total lack of creativity in the name, the appearance it quite attractive. Yellow and orange. Beautiful.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)

Taste: *** (3 Stars)
Again, not a fan. Don't really like Orange that much. Too fruity or juice-like or something.

Would I order this flavor again?
Noo...

Millions of Peaches...

Peach Paradise (Peach, Guava, and little bit of Coconut)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
This flavor combination is very "Peach Paradise." Guava and Coconut both suggest some type of relaxing vacation to me.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Red-ish pink and orange... The orange says peach and reds says paradise. It just... works.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Um, peach and coconut... Can't get much better.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Excellent combination of flavors. Wouldn't change it. But also not my favorite.

Would I order this flavor again?
I might.

Overall Rating: 4 3/4 Stars

This. Name. Rocks. I have the desire to whip out my spirit fingers every time someone orders it.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Orange and red, again. Fabulous, fabulous...

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Very nice-y. Another really fruit-y one.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Again, super fruity. Very flavorful. Not too bad.

Would I order this flavor again?
Maybe on a whim... but, actually, probably not.

Peaches and Cream (Peach and Vanilla)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
I know that I rated Bananas and Cream lower because of the "and Cream" part, but when you put it with "Peaches" it sounds really nice to me. I think of icecream and peaches... I know this rating doesn't seem fair, but... life's not fair.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
I like the clear flavors with single flavors. Looks nice. Simple, chic... very "Tropical Sno 2010."

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
How could a vanilla and peach scented shaved ice not get five stars?

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
I am loving the Peaches and Cream. I'm kind of biased towards flavors with Vanilla in them, though.

Would I order this flavor again?
Chya!

All The Single Flavors...

Only had single flavors today... I'm going to go through three, then talk about the newest flavor - Birthday Cake! Hooray. Come try it.

Papaya

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Pretty decent.

Taste: *** (3 Stars)
Papaya by itself is not that great. Pretty flavor-less. I'm not sure how close to an actual papaya it tastes because I've never eaten one.

Would I order this flavor again?
No.

Overall Rating: 3 1/3 Stars

Passion Fruit

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
It kind of tastes like candy, too... not super fruit-y, despite the name.

Would I order this flavor again?
Nope.

Fun Fact: Passion Fruit was a Eurodance/bubblegum dance group consisting of three girls of German, Spanish, and Dutch descent.

Overall Rating: 3 2/3 Stars

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Props for smelling good and smelling like an actual birthday cake.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
It tastes almost exactly like a birthday cake - frosting and all. At first, I was not sure how I felt about it, but I kept wanting to eat more. And by my fourth helping, it was decided... I love the Birthday Cake flavor. Go get it, right now.

Would I order this flavor again?
Um, duh.

Storms

Tropical Sno was only open for a few hours today, due to the stormy weather, and I still managed to get three more flavors in... That's dedication :)

Ocean Pacific
(Blue Raspberry & Vanilla, with a little bit of Lemon & Lime)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)

What a lovely and intriguing name. And it looks ocean-y with the blue and yellow and green... I like it.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)

This one looks really pretty. You would think the colors would blend weird, but since the amount of lime and lemon on top is minimal, it doesn't. They look quite nice.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)

Average.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)

It was good, but not as good as I was expecting. I think there were too many flavors that I don't thoroughly enjoy. I thought the Vanilla would make up for the other flavors, but I guess not. Maybe my expectations were too high. But ya'll should still order it a lot because it's one of my favorites to make. :)

Would I order this flavor again?

I would not.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars

Orange

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

It smells like... an orange. It's good. I'm really descriptive.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I like orange enough not to give it three stars, but it's definitely not my favorite.

Would I order this flavor again?
No... but orange ya glad I rated this flavor? Baha...

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Nice orange and pink-ness.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Good smell... not awesome. (All my descriptions are starting to sound the same...)

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Pretty good, but these more sour flavors always leave a weird aftertaste in my mouth.

Done with M's

Melon Mix-Up (Honeydew Melon, Watermelon, & Cantaloupe)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
It's a mix-up of a lot of different melons. I dig it.

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
Green, pink, and orange look weird when they all get mixed together on a Tropical Sno, kind of.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Smells a-mazing.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Very good, but not super flavorful. All the flavors involved are slightly mellow.

Would I order this flavor again?
I might. I tend to like the strong flavors more, but if I was in the mood for something a little lighter, I would go for a Melon Mix-Up.

Overall Rating: 4 1/4 Stars

Melonberry (Honeydew Melon & Strawberry)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
This name is creative and descriptive. Five stars.

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
Green and red. Looks nice.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Quite nice.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
This tastes pretty good. Nice combination of a stronger flavor, with a less dominant one.

Would I order this flavor again?
Nah - it's pretty middle of the road for me.

Overall Rating: 4 1/4 Stars

Mountain Berry (Grape, Blue Raspberry, Red Raspberry, & Cherry)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
I like this name a lot. It makes me think of, like... hiking or something. Or lumberjacks.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Blue, purple, and red... and they're all thicker flavors, making the colors pretty vibrant. I like it.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Smells good. Very fruity.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
This flavor is really fruity and really strong. It's a lot of strong-tasting flavors, so just be prepared if you ever order it. Very flavorful.

Would I order this flavor again?
Probably not. The super-fruity ones aren't my fave.

Mango Madness (Mango & Papaya)

Name: **** (4 Stars)
I really like this name, and I think it's very catchy. But... I just don't think it fits in with the flavors that are used in it. Basically, I think Papaya should get some recognition.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Orange and yellow. Lookin' good.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Very nice. Not outstanding.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Good, not great.

Would I order this flavor again?
Nah... I think it's too "juice-y" for my taste.

Overall Rating: 4 1/4 Stars

Margarita

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Really lovin' the Margarita smell. A-w-e-s-o-m-e. So awesome, I had to spell it.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
Margarita pulled a Black Cherry on me. Expected to find it mediocre, but ended really loving it. Just a warning, though, it is strong. (I feel like that sounds like I'm making a joke, like how alcohol can be strong, but I'm not. It really is a very strong flavor. Watch out.)

Would I order this flavor again?
Not by itself, I don't think. I just couldn't handle it. I still really really liked it, though. It's hard to describe my emotions towards Margarita.

And three again...

Limeade (Lime & Pink Lemonade)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
Very nice combination of flavor names. I like it.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Pink and green. Lovin' it, lovin' it.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Nice smell.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I was expecting not to like this one, and I did. Still, not enough for a five-star rating.

Would I order this flavor again?
Probably not.

Overall Rating: 4 1/2 Stars.

Lover's Delight (Passion Fruit & Guava)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
I think this name is just splendid. Passion Fruit and Guava just seem like a "Lover's Delight" type of flavor mix. (Did that sentence make sense?) What is it about Guava that makes it seem like a sexy-type of flavor? Like, if the flavors came to life after we shut up the Tropical Sno shop, I would picture Guava being the high-maintenance diva type... Kind of like Ginger in Gilligan's Island.

Ok, that's something fun to think about - the Tropical Sno flavors pulling a Beauty and the Beast after hours. I could talk for a long time about this subject... but I won't. :)

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
Guava is kind of reddish pink... then with the yellow, it looks quite nice. Four stars.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
You get a lot of that strong Guava scent. It's so... weird... not bad weird, but... weird.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Lover's Delight is good. A lot of people love this flavor, but, while I did enjoy it, I don't really get what all the fuss is about. It gets a solid 4 stars, but I definitely wouldn't consider it a 5-star flavor.

Would I order this flavor again?
Nah...

Overall Rating: 4 1/4 Stars

Mai Tai (Pineapple, Lemon, & Orange)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
I think a Mai Tai-themed Tropical Sno is a lovely idea and goes along with the flavors quite well. Wikipedia said that, in the 50's and 60's basically every tiki-themed restaurant served Mai Tais, and (this fact is going to blow your mind) the "Mai Tai was prominently featured in the Elvis Presley film 'Blue Hawaii'." Um... what! Blue Hawaii! Like the Tropical Sno flavor...? Woah. Not to mention, Elvis Presley... if he was in a movie with Mai Tais, then they are fine with me. He's like... the epitome of cool.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Orange and yellow... very Tropical Sno.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Very good, very pleasant. Pineapple is fantastic.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Not my favorite. But still really good. Very fruity. I actually think if juice companies mixed these three fruits together, it would make a quite excellent juice (if they haven't already). Anyway, I say 4 stars for Mai Tai's taste.

Would I order this flavor again?
There are a lot more that I would get first.

Five Again

Ok, so I've neglected to post for 2 1/2 days, so I got five flavors coming your way, once again.

Here we go!

Kiwi

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Very pleasant.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I felt the same way about Kiwi that I did for Honeydew Melon. I had low expectations, then was pleasantly surprised. 4 stars for Kiwi!

Would I order this flavor again?
No, but I wouldn't order most single flavors by themselves.

Overall Rating: 3 2/3 Stars

Kiwi-Banana (Kiwi & Banana)

Name: *** (3 Stars)
Bo-ring.

Appearance: **** (4 stars)
Green and yellow... Very nice. Green Bay Packers colors, but I can overlook that :)

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Very nice. Banana always smells amazing.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I was quite impressed with the Kiwi-Banana. If I wanted Banana and wanted to keep a fruity taste in my mouth, I would go with this flavor.

Would I order this flavor again?
If the mood struck, yes.

Overall Rating: 3 3/4 Stars

Lemon

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Who doesn't like the smell of lemons?

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
It tastes like lemonade... which works.

Would I order this flavor again?
No... I could order lemonade and get the same general effect.

Overall Rating: 3 2/3 Stars

Lemon-Lime (Lemon & Lime)

Name: *** (3 Stars)
Again... I realize that this is descriptive, but it could be a little more exciting. Not that I don't like simplicity, but really. Something like... Lemlime-on. Or... Limemon. Or not. Ok, so I suck at coming up with names, but I still don't feel inclined to give this flavor more stars.

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
Another green and yellow. Very nice, very nice...

Smell: *** (3 Stars)
The smell reminds me of scented cleaning sprays... too be perfectly honest.

Taste: ** (2 Stars)
Not a fan of the Limemon. Weird aftertaste. I think I know why I'm not a fan, though... but I'll explain it all in the next flavor.

Would I order this flavor again?
Nope.

Overall Rating: 3 Stars

Lime

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: ** (2 Stars)
Whenever I smelled it, I couldn't decide if it had no smell or a kind of weird smell.

Taste: *** (3 Stars)
Lime is alright... I really wouldn't suggest getting it on its own, though. Here's my whole thing with lime... I really like it with Key Lime Pie and Flamingo (they both got 5 stars for taste)... but other times, I just don't like it that much (like with Lemon-Lime or Cherry Limeade). I think when it's with more sour flavors, like Lemon or Pink Lemonade, it doesn't taste as good to me. That's my in-depth and very enlightening analysis of my taste buds.

Would I order this flavor again?
No.

Oveall Rating: 2 2/3 Stars

And three more...

Gummy Worm (Strawberry, Green Apple, Lemon, & Lime)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)

Very creative idea for a Tropical Sno. I like this whole concept.

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
By the time you mix all four of these flavors together on one Tropical Sno, it doesn't look super awesome. It doesn't look bad... but these colors all blending together aren't the prettiest.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Smells very candy-like... Very much like a gummy worm. Very nice.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Props for actually tasting like a gummy worm. It's pretty good... weird blend of sweet and sour, kind of? Anyway, 4-star rating in my mind.

Would I order this flavor again?

No. There are ones that are much better in my book... or blog.

Note: I tried a Pucker Pack with this flavor, as well. It was my first Pucker Pack ever. You know how in Dumb & Dumber, when they eat those peppers, and they're like, "Oh... it's not so bad..." and then they, like, freak out? That's pretty much how it went down. Yikes. If you like sour, Pucker Packs are the way to go. I'm not a fan.

Overall Rating: 4 1/4 Stars

Honeydew Melon

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: **** (4 Star)

Your standard 4-star smell.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I was really impressed with Honeydew Melon, and I wasn't expecting to be. It's more flavorful than you'd think. I still think it's better with other flavors, though. It got kind of old after awhile. It's nice for something that's more of a mellow-sweet taste. If that makes any sense...

Would I order this flavor again?
Not alone, but I'm now looking forward to Melonberry.

Overall Rating: 3 2/3 Stars

Key Lime Pie (Vanilla, Lime, & a little Lemon)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
I think the name and flavors coincide splendidly. Plus, what a great idea for a Tropical Sno flavor, right?

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)

This is so nice to look at. And matches with the idea of Key Lime Pie. Green, white, and yellow. I like it.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)

The smell... is interesting. Vanilla and lemon go together a little weird, but I like it. It's not bad... I just... couldn't really make a firm judgment. So, four stars...?

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)

Oh. My. Goodness. This tastes a-mazing. I really, really liked it. I've never eaten a Key Lime Pie, so I'm not sure how close it is to actually tasting like one, but, as a Tropical Sno flavor, it is quite excellent.

Would I order this flavor again?
For sure - in a heartbeat.

Five

A few things…

First of all, these are all from yesterday because stupid blogger wouldn't let me post anything. I'll post the flavors from today, like... tomorrow morning, probably.

I got five flavors coming at you in this post. I have the Ghost that I forgot to add to the last one, then four from yesterday because I worked for 7 hours, and I have absolutely no self-control when it comes to Tro Sno.

I realized that I didn’t say what was in a Flamingo. It’s Strawberry and Lime. Hm… I would eat a Flamingo (Tropical Sno) right now. I was a really huge fan of that one.

I again feel the need to reiterate that I’m not eating 4 whole Tropical Snos a day. It probably adds up to 1 or 1 ½ full ones. Just so we’re clear on that…

And... be prepared for a lot of single flavors in this blog.

Onto the flavors!

Ghost (Vanilla & Ghost)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
This name is perfect. Clear/white Tropical Sno. Very ghost-ish.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
I realize that Coconut and Vanilla both only got 4 stars, which already is kind of stretch because they’re both uni-color, but Ghost gets 5 stars because it goes along with the name so well. Besides… I never promised that this blog would be unbiased. I love the way clear looks.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
These are like… the two best smells. I would give it six stars, if I wouldn’t feel completely guilty.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
Tastes awesome. It’s definitely not fruity. If you want something different than the typical berry-ish flavors, Ghost would be an excellent option.

Would I order this flavor again?
Definitely. I actually have made this for myself multiple times already.

Grape

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Spells grape-y. It’s nice.

Taste: *** (3 Stars)
You know… I’m not a huge grape person. I like to eat grapes in real life a lot, but, as any type of flavoring, I’m just not a huge fan. This rating is totally just based on my opinion, though. A lot of people like grape, so don’t think it’s a bad flavor.

Would I order this flavor again?
Probably not… unless I was really in the mood for grape pop, and I had no access to it. Then maybe I would… maybe.

Overall Rating: 3 1/3 Stars

Grape-ade (Grape & Pink Lemonade)

Name: **** (4 Stars)
Grape + Pink Lemonade = Grapeade. Makes sense... but not awesomely creative. I don't know. All I picture is injured grapes.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
I love the flavors that turn out pink and purple. They look so nice.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
It's nice. Not much to say.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
This is pretty good. It's a nice blend of flavors.

Would I order this flavor again?
Probably not.

Green Apple

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
It’s SO apple-y, which is amazing. It makes me want to go to the Apple Orchard. I love the Apple Orchard.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with Green Apple, but I really liked it. It made me wish we had a caramel flavor, because caramel and apples are excellent. 4 stars for taste.

Would I order this flavor again?
Um… I don’t think I would by itself. Like I’ve said before, I’m just not a single-flavor type of girl. But I definitely have a lot more appreciation for Green Apple now.

Overall Rating: 4 Stars

Guava

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
It’s smells like… harsh. But good harsh. I like it.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Guava is quite excellent. I enjoy it. It’s different than your typical fruit-y flavor, but it’s kind of hard to describe, really.

Would I order this flavor again?
Not by itself, probably, but I definitely like guava on other things…

Four Flavors

Got four to blog today. I realized, today, that cheesecake isn't on the menu! For those who are wondering, we do have a cheesecake flavor... Anyway, this is my opinion on cheesecake... and three other flavors.

Cheesecake

Name: N/A

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
Like I said, I like the clear flavors. They get an extra star, even though they're just one color.

Smell: *** (3 Stars)
Nothing special.

Taste: ** (2 Stars)
Not a fan... seriously, how can you beat real-life cheesecake?

Would I order this flavor again?
No.

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Orange.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)

Very nice. I'd say the same thing I would say about any other 4-star smell. It smells good, but not worth 5 stars in my book.

Taste: *** (3 Stars)
Peach and orange just aren't my favorite flavors... Wasn't a huge fan of this one, but a lot of people like it.

Would I order this flavor again?
Nah...

Georgia Peach (Strawberry & Peach)

I looked it up and strawberries and peaches are both summer-y fruit grown in Georgia. I just think this name is very fitting. I like it.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Red and orange = Lovely.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Both superb smells.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I like peach pretty well, and the strawberry goes very well with it. This is a very good combination of flavors.

Would I order this flavor again?
I don't think so... it's good, but it's not my first pick.

Three more flavors :)

Cotton Candy

Name: N/A

Very sweet. Very pleasant.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
Cotton candy has a five-star taste. I was really surprised at how much I like it. It's very sweet, but I dig it.

Creamsicle (Orange & Vanilla)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
I had to Google what a creamsicle was. I've never had one, but they sound de-lish-us. Anyway, the name fits the flavors perrrrrfectly.

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
Orange and white. Very nice.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Orange and vanilla are both fantastic scents.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I can understand why people like this because it does taste really good... but I'm not a huge fan of the orange, I don't think. Maybe I'll try this one again because I feel like I didn't have time to actually contemplate the taste when I actually ate it. If anything changes, I'll let you know. :)

Would I order this flavor again?
I don't think I would, but I still think it tasted really good.

Flamingo

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
First of all... seriously, how fun of a word is "flamingo?" Flamingo. Fla-ming-o. Flaaa-mingo. I was kind of annoyed when it was red and green, because flamingos are known for being pink, not red. But then I was Wikipedia-ing flamingos and it said that "adults range from light pink to bright red." So this works.
I kind of want a pet flamingo. How cool are those birds? Here's a picture of one.

If I had it as a pet, I might be kind of freaked out by it, actually... but I bet people would think I was super cool, when they asked if I had any pets and I was like, "Yeah, I have a pet flamingo. It lives in my backyard. I'm pretty awesome." I would probably name it Mingo Star... like, flaMINGO... and then Ringo Star... Not that I'm, like, a huge Ringo Star fan, but he's pretty cool, right? He narrates the Thomas the Train shows, which is pretty sweet. My nephew loves those.

I'm completely off topic. Appearance!

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Red and green are nice colors together, plus they are flamingo-y.
It would be really cool if we shaped the ice to look like a flamingo... Like, how they fold napkins at fancy restaurants to look like swans...

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
What a great smelling Tropical Sno.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
What a splendid flavor! Very simple - one strong flavor with one not quite as intense. People may say it's kind of safe, but I like simplicity. Sometimes that just what you need. So, for all those people who have had a rough day and just need a good-tasting treat, that you know you can depend on... go with a Flamingo. Saying "flamingo" will make you feel better, and then you get to eat a delicious Tropical Sno flavor.

Would I order this flavor again?
Yes - yes, I would. I just enjoyed every aspect of this flavor. Flamingos are super cool, so I'm glad there is a Tropical Sno named after one.

Overall Rating: 5 Stars

Yay - another 5-star flavor! You should all come to Tropical Sno and we could have conversations about flamingos because, they more information I find about them, the cooler I think they are. I mean, Tropical Snos, plus flamingo conversation... How could your day be any better?

Three Randoms

Citrus Cooler (Orange, Lemon, & a little bit of Lime)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
Creative, descriptive, fitting for a Tropical Sno shop... Everything a good name should be.

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
It almost got five stars... It's yellow and orange which looks really good together, but when you put the green on top it blends all weird. I guess if you applied the flavors just right, it would look better.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
It smells kind of like Pledge... which smells pretty good, right?

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
This flavor is fantastic. You should go try it. Right now.

Would I order this flavor again?
Yes, I would. It is quite delicious.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars

Coconut

Name: N/A

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
It's only one color, I know... but I love the way it looks. Or doesn't look, I guess. It's just like sparkly ice. I want to give it 5 stars, but I would feel guilty, since it really is only one color.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
If you don't like the way coconut smells, you're crazy.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Plain coconut is really good, but it really is better as a mixer.

Would I order this flavor again?
Not by itself. But it's one of my favorite ones to mix with other flavors. The other day, a girl ordered a plain coconut in a drip cup. It ended up being a completely white sno cone in a green cup, which already looks pretty, and then she was wearing a green and white striped shirt, so she matched it perfectly. It was pretty cool.

Cola

Brown ice? Kind of weird.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Smells like pop! I love the smell of pop.

Taste: ** (2 Stars)
Sorry, cola-lovers. It tastes like... watered down pop. Not a fan.

Would I order this flavor again?
Nope.

Cinnamon Day

Cinnamon

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Like Apple Cinnamon, it smells like Christmas... and baking... and home-y-ness.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Excellent flavor. It has a bit of like... zip to it, that takes some getting used to, though.

Would I order this flavor again?
Probably not by itself. I'm not much of a single-flavor girl, but I think this is excellent with other flavors.

Overall Rating: 4 Stars

Cinnamon Gum (Cinnamon & Bubblegum)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
Clever idea for a flavor. Like Cherry Cola, you could say that this name is a little boring, but it's named after an actual thing, making it more, like... creative. If that makes sense.

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
Both reds. Kinda boring.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
It smells pretty good... very sweet.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I was expecting not to like it because I wasn't a huge fan of the bubblegum, but it was really good! It tastes pretty sweet.

Would I order this flavor again?
I'm not so sure... I might. Not a definite yes, but I wouldn't turn it down if someone had an extra and offered it to me.

Overall Rating: 4 Stars

After adding these two to the flavors list on the right, I noticed that all the flavors with Cinnamon got 4 stars. Interesting... :)

More Cherry

Cherry Cola (Cola & Cherry)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
Very precise. Very clear. You could say it was a little boring, but it's named after a well-loved beverage. Five stars.

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
Brown and red aren't that pretty, but it is appropriate for this flavor. It's kind of the perfect representation of a Coke ad actually. With like... splattered pop in the background, then a bunch of red lettering...

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
I think pop smells really good and this flavor smells like pop. (Do you say pop or soda? I always say pop.) Anyway... five stars!

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I really like the pop-flavored Tropical Snos. I think it's definitely a preferred taste, though. I don't like... love love love it, but it's definitely good for a change. I like the rootbeer better, honestly, but that's still a ways off :)

Would I order this flavor again?
Maybe... Probably not, though. There are others that I would prefer more. But it's good for changing things up a bit and straying from the usual fruitiness of most Tropical Sno flavors.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars

Cherry Limeade (Cherry, Lime, & a little bit of Pink Lemonade)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
I think this name really draws people in... Not to mention, it sounds very Tropical Sno-y.

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
It doesn't look that pretty when all is said and done. The green and red are okay, but then adding pink? It just ends up blending weirdly.

Smell: *** (3 Stars)
Wasn't bad, but wasn't great either.

Taste: *** (3 Stars)
I just can't give this more than three stars. I really wanted to like Cherry Limeade, but I just don't. The combination of flavors is kind of weird, quite honestly... and it left a weird aftertaste in my mouth.
Although, Pam tried it today, as well, and said that she liked it. Maybe she'll have something different to say in the comments. I guess we'll see...

Would I order this flavor again?
Nope - There are so many better flavors out there...

Cherry

I have Cherry and Cherry Blaster on the docket for today. I'll put Black Cherry into the comparison, as well, so you can see how they all compare.

Cherry

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Good smell. Very cherry-licious. Not quite as strong as the Black Cherry, I don't think.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Here's where the comparison with Black Cherry really comes into play. Black Cherry received 5 stars for taste. For me, regular cherry just gets four. Here's my highly-specialized analysis:
Cherry is very good. It tastes like your standard cherry-flavored treat.
Black Cherry is like someone took a handful of the juiciest cherries and threw them into your face. ...but in a good way. Black cherry is very similar to regular Cherry, but just a lot more flavorful.
If you like cherry-flavoring and really dig the stronger-tasting flavors, then Black Cherry is the way to go. If you want something less-intense, go with the regular.

Would I order this flavor again?
I really like Cherry, but I think I would get Black Cherry or Cherry Blaster before just regular Cherry.

Overall Rating: 3 2/3 Stars

Cherry Blaster

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
Blasting the customer with two different cherry flavors.
Great name.

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
The Black Cherry is a little darker, but otherwise, they're pretty much the same color.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
So much cherry-ness. Love it.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
I feel like this flavor should get 4.5 stars for taste because Cherry got 4 stars and Black Cherry got 5... but I'm not doing 1/2 stars in this blog. So, I just decided to go all the way to five. The cherry flavors have been super awesome for me, thus far.

Would I order this flavor again?
Sure, I would. I would probably choose between this one and Black Cherry if I wanted a completely cherry flavor. It would just depend on my mood.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars

First!

Candy Apple

Name: **** (4 Stars)
Very appropriate and intriguing name. Judging just on the name, this sno cone would appeal to me. I initially gave the name five stars, until I realized that all it did was trick me into trying a not-so-great tasting flavor.

Appearance: ** (2 Stars)
The colors are too similar.

Smell: ** (2 Stars)
I have nothing to say about the smell. It's fine, but... not that exciting.

Taste: ** (2 Stars)
Not great. I mean, think about it... you're blending cotton candy together with apple... When does anyone even do that in real life? They're like... the two most contrasting foods ever.

Would I order this flavor again?
No - the combination of flavors is too weird.

Overall Rating: 2.5 Stars

Cantaloupe

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
Orange.

Smell: *** (3 Stars)
It smells like cantaloupe. Which is good, but not super strong or anything.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
It tastes pretty much exactly like cantaloupe. I wouldn't suggest getting this flavor by itself, but it gets 4 stars for being such a magnificent complimenting taste to other, more dominant, flavors.

Would I order this flavor again?
Not by itself, but I don't think people give cantaloupe enough credit. It goes really well with other flavors. I wish I could rate it higher, but it's just not strong enough on its own.

Overall Rating: 3 1/3 Stars

Caribbean Cool (Watermelon, Kiwi, Lime, & Vanilla)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
5 Stars. Not only does it seem Tropical Sno-like, it fits with the flavors, as well. Watermelon, kiwi, and lime are all Caribbean-type fruit, and the vanilla fits in more with the "cool" aspect. I'm not sure that really makes sense, but trust me... it just works.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Green and pink. Very Tropical Sno. And pretty.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
It just smells fresh. Like a breath of delicious fresh air.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
This tastes fabulous. It has a perfect combination of stronger flavors and lighter ones. I was pleasantly surprised with this one.

Would I order this flavor again?
Absolutely! Especially if I was craving vanilla. These flavors all go together splendidly.

Overall Rating: 5 Stars

Blue Raz Bubblegum-ness

First, I'm going to talk about Blue Raspberry.
Then, Bubblegum.
And THEN... Bubble Blue, which a combination of the two.

Blue Raspberry

Name: N/A
I realize that blue raspberry isn't the name of an actual fruit, but I don't really know how to critique it because it's just the name of a common flavor. Like, pink lemonade or cinnamon. They're just their own individual flavor names.
Correct me if my reasoning is off.

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
It's blue, da-ba-di da-ba-di...

Smell: *** (3 Stars)
There are lots that smell better, if you ask me. Not that it smells bad, but... yeah.

Taste: *** (3 Stars)
I just don't really see the appeal of Blue Raspberry by itself. It's a really popular flavor, but I'm not a huge fan. I would suggest trying it once, though, because a lot of people really like.
It's really good mixed with other flavors, but alone... it's just too much.

Would I order this flavor again?
Nah...

Overall Rating: 3 Stars

Bubblegum

Name: N/A
Again, I just don't know how I would analyze this name.

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
Pink. Uno color. Tres... estrellas?

Smell: *** (3 Stars)
I don't know... I don't think bubblegum is that great-smelling.

Taste: ** (2 Stars)
It's not super fantastic. It's like your eating bubblegum, which isn't that appealing. It's just sort of bland-ish. Little kids really like it, though.

Would I order this flavor again?
No. I would maybe order it over apricot, but that's about it.

Overall Rating: 2 2/3 Stars

Bubble Blue (Blue Raspberry & Bubblegum)

Name: **** (4 Stars)
Appropriate for the two flavors, but sort of hard to say.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Blue and pink together look sooo pretty and very like... summer-y or something.

Smell: *** (3 Stars)
Blue Raz and Bubblegum both got 3 stars and putting them together doesn't improve them any.

Taste: *** (3 Stars)
It was alright. I thought combining the flavors would make them better as individuals, but it doesn't. The Blue Raz is still strong and the Bubblegum is still bland-ish.

Would I order this again?
Nope. I wouldn't. I would recommend it for little kids, though! They seem to really like both flavors, so... yeah. That's my assessment.
The pretty color combination helps the rating.

Overall Rating: 3 3/4 Stars

Blue

Two things before I begin...

#1 - I feel the need to make it clear that I'm not eating like... three whole sno cones a day. While I would love to eat that many Tropical Snos every day, I don't think it would be the healthiest option. ...not that I still don't eat more than I should, probably. :)

#2 - The other day, someone ordered "a Lover's Delight with two spoons." That's pretty awesome.

Ok, flavors! We got two blue-themed-ish ones today.

Blue Hawaii (Blue Raspberry, Pineapple, and a little bit of Coconut)
Name: ***** (5 Stars)
When I think of Hawaii I think of pineapples and coconuts... and when you add the Blue Raspberry, the name "Blue Hawaii" fits quite perfectly.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Blue and Yellow. Again, a perfect fit for a Hawaii-themed sno cone. Sandy land, surrounded by an ocean.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Blue Raspberry, Pineapple, and Coconut are all really strong scents. And they are, also, all really fantastic scents.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I really wanted to give this one a 5-star rating for taste because all the other factors were so excellent, but... I have to be honest. While this flavor is super fun and does taste pretty fantastic, I wouldn't feel right giving it five stars.

Would I order this flavor again?
I think I would... especially if I was in the mood for Blue Raspberry (which, honestly, I rarely am). But pineapple and coconut are some of the best complimenting flavors, so if you like Blue Raz, this cone is an great option for you.

Overall Rating: 4 3/4 Stars

____________________________________

Blue Island (Blue Raspberry, Coconut, and a little bit of Strawberry
Name: ***** (5 Stars)
Another perfect-fitting name! It goes along with the other aspects of this flavor, splendidly.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
This coincides with the name swimmingly. The Blue Raz and Coconut look like water, then the little bit of strawberry is like an island. I realize that this should really make it a "Red Island," but I think the fact that it's called "Blue Island" makes it more clever. I mean, how lame would it be if someone got to an island and was like, "It's really red on this island... I'll name it Red Island." That would be lame.
Or maybe you just can't see the island because it is really is blue and the ocean camouflages it. And the red island is just a distraction from the way-cooler blue island that only a select few get to know about. Woah - this flavor just got way more complicated.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
It smells Tropical Sno-y. But I wouldn't give it 5 Stars.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
5 star taste! The strawberry really helped. I tasted it and was like, "Woah! I want more of that!" I didn't actually say it outloud, but I thought it.

Would I order this flavor again?
Yes! I would. ...that all I really have to say. It's delicious.

Overall Rating: 4 3/4 Stars

Two fantastic flavors! Both so close to 5 stars... but just didn't quite make it.

Sunday and Monday

More flavors eaten between Sunday and Monday...

Berry Splash (Blue Raspberry, Grape, Strawberry, & a dash of Vanilla)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
Very appropriate. Three fruity (and berry-like) flavors, with a dash of vanilla, which makes me think of all the fruit splashing into a pool of water. I think this name fits wonderfully.

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
Red, Purple, and blue all look really pretty together, but when you add the vanilla it kind of blends them, making them mix and look not as nice.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
It smells like candy. Which is fantastic. ...but not worth 5 stars.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
I like it, but it's very similar to a lot of other flavors.

Overall Rating: 4 1/4 Stars

Would I order this flavor again?
Sure... maybe... If I was in the right mood. I think it's a very Tropical Sno-y flavor.

___________________

Big Stick (Lemon, Tangerine, Pineapple, & a dash of Cherry)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
5 stars - and here's why. Because of the fact that 9/10 people chuckle when you look out the window and yell, "Who has the Big Stick?"
C'mon - that's pretty funny.

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
Orange and Yellow, with a splash of red. I dig it.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Lemon, pineapple... Can't go wrong there.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
Lemon, pineapple, and tangerine taste amazing together, then adding the cherry made it like... stupendous.

Would I order this flavor again?
I would. Fabulous combination of flavors.

Overall Rating: 4 1/2 Stars

Black Cherry

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)

Your basic one-color flavor rating. 3 stars.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)

Black Cherry smells reeeally good. Not to sound really stupid, but the my first thought after smelling it was that it smells "dark." So, whatever that means... To me, it means a four-star rating.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)

Let me tell you a story. I looked and saw my next flavor was black cherry and was a little disappointed. I was like, "That's boring..." I only put a little bit of flavor on the ice in my cup, so I could try it, then use the rest of my ice for another flavor. And after I tried it, I added black cherry to the rest of my sno cone because it so good. And I am reeeally excited for the Cherry Blaster now.

Would I order this flavor again?
Um, I would order right now if it wasn't 9:40 in the morning and Tropical Sno was closed. Black Cherry rocked my face off.

Overall Rating: 4 1/3 Stars

Two More

Bananas and Cream (Banana & Vanilla)

Name: *** (3 Stars)
It's just not that exciting. It makes me think of creaming bananas, which makes me think of mushed up bananas, which... is kind of gross. I personally think "Banilla" would be a better (not to mention wittier name). Like VA-nilla, but with a b... because it's banana. I am so clever. Oo - or "Vanana!" And I didn't add the exclamation point to express excitement... that would be part of the the name - Vanana!

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
It's just white and yellow, but I think those two colors look really pretty together. Not that you can really see white when you put it on the ice, but I just dig the clear colors on the ice. It's so... snowy-looking? I don't know. I just like it.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Vanilla smells amazing, plus the banana equals... bliss. I heart it.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
It's tastes like banana cream pie... how could that not get five stars?

Would I order this flavor again?
Definitely. Banana is amazing and adding vanilla makes it like... crazy amazing.

Overall Rating: 4 1/4 Stars

____________________________

Barbie (Pink Lemonade & Guava)

Name: ***** (5 Stars)
The name is really fitting for the flavors. A sassy guava flavor plus a flavor that is pink both in name and color. Very Barbie-ish.

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
I realize that both of these flavors are pink, making the sno cone unicolor, which should only give it three stars. ...but I decided to give it an extra star because it fits along so nicely with the name. A "Barbie-flavored" sno cone could be nothing but pink. Addding another color would've been a mistake.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
It smells good and the scent is really strong. I wouldn't want to smell it all the time, though. The guava-ness is really the main contribution to the higher 4-star rating.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
These are probably two of my favorite flavors apart, but I just don't know about putting them together. Barbies taste really good, but, again, they just doesn't meet that 5-star standard.

Would I order this flavor again?
Personally... I probably would not. Despite the appeal of the look and name, I just don't think it's the most ideal flavor combo. But I think it does an excellent job of staying true to a barbie-like theme.

Overall Rating: 4 1/4 Stars

Two different flavors, both rated over four stars. Good day. :)

More Flavors. . .

I realized that I haven't been putting what is in each of the mixed flavors. I'll be sure to do that from now on.

Also, today's blog is a good example of how, although taste seems like it should be the most important factor in a Tropical Sno sno cone, this is not always the case. Some of the flavors I claim to prefer less have received a higher overall rating due to their intriguing name or appealing look.

Details matter, folks. While taste is obviously most important, the little things that attract people to certain flavors says a lot.

I realize I'm putting a lot of thought into this... but it's summer. My lack of homework allows me to focus on the more important things in life... like Tropical Sno :)

Today's samples...

B-Dub - Watermelon, Cherry, & Strawberry
Name: ***** (5 Stars)
It was named after Eldridge citizen, Ben Woomer! (Because he invented it.) That's pretty cool - five stars.

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
It's a combination of two reds and a pink, which isn't too exciting. Still, not ugly.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Fruity goodness. It smells delightful, but not quite delightful enough for five stars.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
It tastes really good, but doesn't quite have the amazing "Woah!" factor. While I enjoy the taste a great deal, it would not make me exclaim, "Oh my gosh, this is amazing!" as I might with others.

Would I order this flavor again?
I probably wouldn't order it myself, but if someone else ordered it I would definitely ask them for a bite... or two. Or three.

Overall rating: 4 Stars

Banana
Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
All one color. Nothing much else to say.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
It smells like a banana... and bananas smell pretty darn good.

Taste: ***** (5 Stars)
Banana rocks my taste buds. I think every food in the world should have a banana-flavored version of it.

Would I order this flavor again?
Definitely. No question.

Overall Rating: 4 Stars

Bananaberry - Banana & Strawberry.
Name: **** (4 Stars)
Very fun to say. Yet, I think it could have incorporated more of the strawberry in the name. Banana is stealing the show.

Appearance: ***** (5 Stars)
Red and Yellow - Go Cyclones! Five stars! (Yes, I'm totally incorporating my own biases into my blog.)

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Like B-Dub, it's a pleasant aroma of fruitiness. Nothing more, nothing less.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
Anothing decent flavor. It goes without saying that mixing banana and strawberry will taste delicious... but does it taste extraordinary? Would I be satisfied eating only this flavor for the rest my life? Does is raise itself to a standard that all other Tropical Sno flavors wish to meet? No.
No five star rating here. But definitely worth four.

Would I order this flavor again?
Possibly. I would recommend it to a person who really likes banana.

Overall Rating: 4 1/4 Stars

Looking ahead on the Tro Sno menu, I've noticed some flavors names with five-star potential. If the other factors are as good as these flavors' names, we could possibly have some 5-star overall ratings coming up here! Very exciting.

First three flavors

Rules:
  • I will rate each flavor on the following four categories: Name, Appearance, Smell, and Taste.
  • I will not rate the name of a flavor if it is also the name of a fruit. Because I think Adam did a splendid job naming the fruit, and I don't feel that I have a right to judge them.
  • Each category can receive anywhere from 1 - 5 stars, with 5 being the best.
I think that's it... I'll post more if I think of them.

Apple Cinnamon

Name: **** (4 Stars)
Not your typical "creative" name, but for this combination of flavors it seems appropriate. Something about the words "apple" and "cinnamon" seem like they should just always go together. I wouldn't want this combination to be named anything different. It's simple and fitting for this mix.

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
It's a mix of two red flavors making it... red. Not unpleasing to the eye, but nothing exceptional.

Smell: ***** (5 Stars)
Smells like Christmas. Five stars.

Taste: **** (4 Stars)
It definitely has a good and pleasant taste, but the two flavors are not exceptionally strong or enticing to the taste buds.

Would I order this flavor again?
Possibly - It's something I could see myself having a random craving for, but I wouldn't get it on a regular basis.

Overall Rating: 4 Stars

_____________________________

Apricot

Name: N/A

Appearance: *** (3 Stars)
The one-flavor ones will probably all receive three stars in appearance. Nothing bad looking, but nothing super great either.

Smell: *** (3 Stars)
Not awful-smelling, but I would never buy an apricot-scented candle.

Taste: * (1 Star)
Apricots are pretty nasty and an apricot-flavored sno cone is equally as bad.

Would I order this flavor again?
No. I hardly wanted to finish the small sample I tried today.

Overall Rating: 2 1/3 Stars

Apricot Stone Sour

Name: * (1 Star)

The word "stone" is not something I want to associate with a sno cone that I am eating. Also, it wasn't sour. This name lies.

Appearance: **** (4 Stars)
Yellow and orange. A good blend of colors. Nice. Simple. Quite pleasing to the eye.

Smell: **** (4 Stars)
Just apricot received three stars, and adding lemon bumped the scent up maybe a half of a star... It's the pineapple that bumped the smell up to a full four stars.

Taste: ** (2 Stars)
Better than apricot, but after I finished it I said, "Meh..." Not awful, I guess... but definitely not great.

Would I order this flavor again?
No. Not that it was completely awful, but it just did not satisfy my taste buds.

Overall Rating: 2 3/4 Stars
